Offered by a private vendor, this lot offers the unique opportunity to acquire a new old stock example of the highly collectable 50th anniversary Rolex Submariner ref. 16610LV. The watch is accompanied by its display box, outer box, warranty papers, sleeve, booklet, swing tags and bill of sale. It’s unworn with some factory stickers in place, and the condition appears to be consistent with the vendor’s ‘AAA’ grading.

First released in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner, it can be easily distinguished by the striking green aluminium bezel insert - an ode to Rolex’s corporate colour and a symbol of the brand.

The “maxi dial” was first introduced on the ‘Kermit’, improving legibility and paving the way for future iterations of the model. As a result, the ‘Kermit’ became unique for having the dial layout from modern Submariners, but with the more traditional case shape and vintage charm of models from the ’80s and ’90s.

Despite these cosmetic updates, the ‘Kermit’ is still a Submariner at heart and features a 40mm Oystersteel case and bracelet and a trip-lock crown to afford the watch 300 metres of water resistance.

Its collectability was never in doubt, but the recent steel sports watch frenzy, and even more recent demand for all things green, have greatly benefited this anniversary edition of the world’s most recognisable diver.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid.
