Audemars Piguet is better associated with the Royal Oak in today’s world, but their history is much more than that. This AP Canapé is a glimpse into the other side of the company’s watchmaking, a more formal and dressy side that the watch community is now starting to appreciate again.

This example features a rose gold rectangular case surrounding an ivory coloured dial. The hour markers and hands are also finished in rose gold with a small seconds sub-register just above 6 o’clock. The highlight of this timepiece are the opulently formed and curvy lugs that resemble the armrest of a ‘Canapé’, the French term for sofa. The solid caseback is flat, compensating for the rising lugs and retaining a slim profile for the watch to slide under the cuff. Fitted to the watch is a blue alligator leather strap that beautifully complements the rose gold and ivory white of the case and dial. Housed inside the case and powering the watch is the manually-wound calibre 2085.

This example shows very light signs of wear on the case, strap and clasp. Its condition is within the bounds of the seller’s A grading. The sale includes an AP wooden box and a purchase receipt from the European Watch Company.

All watches offered for sale are searched and cleared against The Watch Register database and a certificate is available to the winning bidder upon request.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Watch Collecting requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid.
