2019 ROLEX SUBMARINER ‘HULK’

There’s something inherently appealing about watches that require a little extra attention from a discerning eye. This Rolex Submariner ‘Hulk’ is a sought-after reference in its own right thanks to the distinctive green aesthetic and its discontinuation in 2020. However, it’s not until you flip the watch over and examine the case back, that the watch’s true collectability is revealed.  The intricate Khanjar engraving is seen exclusively on watches ordered by the late ruler of Oman, Qaboos bin Said and is a highly sought-after feature thanks to its exclusivity.

2012 ROLEX GMT-MASTER II

Call it an appreciation for intricate gem-setting or simply a guilty pleasure, but we find it hard not to be dazzled by this rarely-seen bejewelled GMT-Master II. In a complete departure from its tool watch routes, the Crown’s pilot watch has been re-interpreted as an attention-grabbing luxury accessory where telling the time has become an afterthought. The 24-hour scale bezel,  which once allowed the wearer to track two time zones simultaneously, has been replaced with a blend of sapphires and diamonds. While this renders its functionality useless, it’s not really a big deal when your watch looks this good!

2021 ROLEX DAYTONA

Speaking of watches with utilitarian roots that have adopted a more opulent personality, this rose gold Daytona is an attractive contemporary version of Rolex’s iconic chronograph. We’re of the view that the Crown’s sports watches lend themselves particularly well to being dressed up and this example is no exception.  Complementing the precious metal case and bracelet is a ‘sundust’ dial with baguette diamond hour markers, which really set this watch off. Unlike elaborately decorated offerings from other manufacturers,  Rolex maintains the same level of utility and delivers bulletproof cases with plenty of water resistance.
